Having a plan in place for your pets is critical during the outbreak of COVID-19; individuals who become too sick or require hospitalization will need to have someone to take care of their animals while they heal. Make a plan!
- Have supplies ready - Make sure your pet has enough food/water, a crate, and any other necessities in case you have to move them or keep them inside.
- Locate and update vet records - In the chance that you have to board your pet, make sure their vaccines are current and that you have proof of this. You may also want to get them microchipped or if they are already microchipped make sure it's registered in the event your pet needs to be relocated back to you.
- Reach out to family/friends - If you have to be hospitalized or under quarantine make sure you have a family or friend that can temporarily watch your pet. And vice versa.
- Stay informed - Contact your local health dept. to find out how it will share alerts and instructions about the status of COVID-19.
