To enhance the quality of life for companion animals in Chemung County and surrounding areas by promoting better futures for pets and their people.
The Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA envisions a time when loving and lifelong homes will be provided for all homeless companion animals in our community.
As employees of the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA, we understand that we play an integral role in the welfare of animals in our community. Our main priority is to serve animals in need, but we also act as a necessary resource to the public. As such, we constantly strive to maintain and exceed our high standards of care and professionalism with the following values in mind:
By protecting the animals from harm, acting as a voice for them and getting our message out
By respecting the animals as individuals, being consistent in proving the most humane and considerate treatment to them and helping them feel safe and valued
By working to achieve our mission through careful stewardship of the animals and resources entrusted to us and by developing lasting personal customer relationships
By showing empathy for and understanding of both animals and humans on a daily basis
By holding ourselves to the highest standards, dong what’s right all the time and every time, and fostering a good reputation
By believing in what we do as our driving force and facing each day with renewed enthusiasm for our cause
By being happy with ourselves and the results of our work, going above and beyond, and taking ownership and personal responsibility for our actions
By depending on each other, building on each others’ strengths, and developing open and honest relationships through communication
