The New Year always brings many firsts. For the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA, it brings the first adoption of 2010. On Jan. 2, the first day of the New Year that the shelter was open, a father-daughter duo came into the shelter on a mission to find their new best friend, a three-month-old kitten named Prissy.
"I saw the cat on the shelter's website and I knew that was the cat for me," said ten-year-old Emily Eastwood of Van Etten, NY.
Little did they know that their adoption at 3:40 p.m. would be the first adoption of the New Year.
"Having the first adoption of the year is awesome," said Emily. Father Robert Eastwood agreed saying the adoption "was a good ending to a long day. Our family will be very happy."
The Chemung County SPCA would like to congratulate the Eastwood Family on their new four pound eight ounce kitten.
