	2nd Annual Humane Poster & Writing Contest January 3 through February 29, 2012 The Chemung County SPCA 2435 State Route 352 Elmira, NY 14903 The Chemung County Library District and the Southeast Steuben County Library are sponsoring our 2nd Annual Humane Poster & Writing Contest. We invite children in Kindergarten through eighth grade to participate. The contest will allow children to think creatively about different animal welfare issues. Prizes will be awarded to the top three children in each of the four designated divisions. All entries must be submitted in person or by mail by February 3. Winners will be announced by February 24. 	Elmira Jackals Pet of the Game First Arena 155 N. Main St. Elmira, NY 14901 The Chemung County SPCA with the Elmira Jackals presents the Jackals Pet of the Game segment! During certain selected home games, a shelter dog will be featured as the Pet of the Game. The dog will take to the ice during the intermission to show off their best mutt strut and to find an adoptive family. 	Free Rabies Clinic Saturday, February 11, 2012 Chemung County Health Department John Gridley Bldg., 103 Washington St. Elmira, NY 14901 A free rabies clinic will be hosted from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, at the Chemung County Health Department. All dogs must be on-leash or properly contained; all cats and ferrets must be securely confined. Puppies, kittens and ferrets must be at least 3 months of age to receive the vaccine. Initial vaccinations are effective for one year, but previously vaccinated pets with proper documentation can be vaccinated for 3 years. 	Spay Day USA 2012 Clinic Sunday, February 19, 2012 The Chemung County SPCA 2435 State Route 352 Elmira, NY 14903 In honor of Spay Day USA 2012, the Chemung County SPCA is hosting a one-time, low-cost spay/neuter clinic for a limited number of individuals who qualify through the shelter's application process. Individuals interested in applying for this clinic can download the application below: Apply for the clinic now Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. All applications must be submitted by Wednesday, Febraury 15, to allow for adequate time to schedule the surgeries.
