Posted September 1, 2010
We at the Chemung County SPCA are very excited to unveil our electronic pledge site for Walk 'n Wag 2010. This site will allow people to collect pledges for Walk 'n Wag, all from the comfort of their own homes. To make the process a little easier, we have put together some step-by-step instructions for using the page.
  1.  Follow the link on our Homepage or  Events page, or click here to be automatically transferred
  2. Once on the pledge site, click "Become a Fundraiser" on the left side of the page
  3. Fill out your registration information *Note, if the team you are a part of has already registered, you can choose the team during this step, if they have not already registered, you can create a team once you have created your own fundraising page
  4. Once your page is created, you can customize your page by scrolling over any on the sections
  5. To send requests, click "Promote Page" on the right side of the page
  6. You can then send e-mails to your friends and family
  7. You can also post your page to your Facebook wall and promote it on Twitter

Walk 'n Wag Explained

Posted August 26, 2010

This year, our 18th Annual Walk 'n Wag will be held September 18. Every year we get some questions about the event. We sat down with Dana Heifferon, Chairman of the Walk 'n Wag committee to answer some frequently asked questions.

Q: What exactly is Walk 'n Wag?

A: Walk 'n Wag is the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA's primary fundraiser for the year. It is held each fall at a local park. Participants are encouraged to form teams, collect pledges and walk to raise money for the SPCA.

Q: When does this event start?

A: Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m.

Q: Is there anything happening before the event?

A: Yes! We have vendors and demonstrations that begin at 9 a.m. and go throughout the walk. We also are happy to announce that this year, 94 Rock will be broadcasting live at Walk 'n Wag. There will also be food provided by a local Boy Scout Troop.

Q: Where do I get a pledge form?

A: Pledge forms are available at the SPCA or online at www.chemungspca.org. You can also get pledges online and send requests to your friends by clicking here.

Q: Do I have to get pledges, or can I just walk?

A: You do not have to get pledges in order to walk. You can just come and walk to support the SPCA and enjoy the great outdoors.

Q: Do I need to bring my own dog?

A: You don't need to bring your own dog. It is perfectly fine if you just want to come and walk for a good cause. However, participants are encouraged to bring their own friendly, vaccinated dogs on a leash. Please make sure that there is a responsible adult with the dog at all times and bring your own supplies to clean up after your dog as a courtesy to other walkers.

Q: Will there be shelter dogs there for me to walk?

A: Dogs from the shelter will also be onsite to be walked by participants who have been through the shelter's dog walking class. If you would like to walk one of our dogs at the event, please contact Liz Sowell at 607-732-1827, ext. 210 to set up a dog walking orientation.

If you have any other questions, please contact Cindy Lewis-Black at 607-732-1827, Ext. 212, develop@chemungspca.org.
