Adopting a Friend
Because of the thousands of unwanted animals born each day, the SPCA requires that all cats and dogs adopted from the shelter be spayed /neutered within 30 days from the day of adoption, or when the puppy or kitten reaches the appropriate age. Our adoption fees include a free visit to a cooperating veterinarian if the appointment is made within five days.In addition, NYS Law requires that we obtain from adopters a minimum $35.00 spay/neuter deposit that will be refunded with proof that your pet was spayed /neutered.
Download our adoption application through the link below. In order to fill out the application electronically, you will need to have an updated version of Adobe Acrobat. Upon completion, the file can be saved and sent to email@example.com as an attachment. Otherwise, you may print the application, fill it out and then either drop it off at the shelter or fax it in to (607) 732-6315. Only completed applications will be processed.
Things to consider
Before you decide to bring a new addition into your family, please ask yourself some very important questions:
Will my lifestyle allow time for a pet?
Am I willing to make a commitment to a pet for their lifetime?
Am I willing to devote the time and patience that is required to help a pet adjust to a new home?
What will I do with my pet when I travel?
Am I prepared for the additional expense that pet ownership involves?
